WOW! What a turn out for the fundraiser for Emma Cox, daughter of Tabby Belmonte and Dylan Cox. Two students of Perham, Jade West and Abby Nygaard, helped set up this fundraiser. It was packed when I came to show my support. The art that the students show cased were all remarkable. I want to take this time to thank the Perham community for supporting this fundraiser and a special thank you to all that made it possible whether it was stirring the noodles or washing dishes, you all did great. The total raised was over $2,200 (I had the wonderful job of counting :) ). Once again, great job to all involved.
On July 30th I was crowned Miss Perham 2010. In the up coming year I will be getting ready to compete at Miss Minnesota, promoting my platform "It's Drastic, Cut the Plastic: reducing our plastic waste", and I will also be promoting the Children's Miracle Network, the Miss America's national platform.

Busy, Crazy Days
We have had a very interesting couple of weeks in the town of Perham. I have so much to update you all on! Three weeks ago I got my paper work done for Miss Minnesota and got to pick out the pictures I wanted in our program book. There is so much left to do and such little time! My music was edited by the wonderful Mr. Dave Howey and my talent piece is coming along beautifully.
Our high school boy's basketball team had it's first trip to state and became state champs! It was a proud last couple of weeks to be a Perham Yellow Jacket. Along with that, Zach Gabbard is able to come home and is making miraculous stride since his collapse earlier in the season. I truly believe that Zach is one of the reasons for the team's success. I am proud of all the young men on the team, you all have done a wonderful job in representing our community.
Along with the amazing highs of having a state champion basketball team came the lowest of lows. After a shooting Perham lost a beautiful teenage girl and most importantly, Emma lost her mom. It was difficult to think of the cute little girl who once sat on the bus with me had died due to such a tragic event. A beautiful, talented, smart young women will always be in my heart and prayers. Once again Perham made me proud to be apart of and represent such a wonderful community. The out pour of love and sympathy to the families and friends has been wonderful and I hope that it continues. I have the honor of helping with a Art Expo and Spaghetti feed this Thursday to raise funds to support Dylan and Tabitha's daughter. Please attend and show your support if you can.
This past Saturday I went down to the Miss Minnesota work shop and got to meet all of the beautiful young women I will be competing with this June. I met my wonderful room mate Miss Coon Rapids, Megan Ehlert! Along with all the information and meeting with all the Miss contestants, I was able to attend the Miss Minnesota's Outstanding Teen pageant. All the girls did amazing! Congratulations to the new Miss Minnesota's Outstanding Teen, Alexis Houule! Good luck and remember to soak up this year because it will go fast! I believe I have skimmed the surface of what has happened this last couple of weeks and I promise to update soon!
